Job Description

McIntosh Communications is an established and diverse wireless communications company, providing powerful communication solutions to businesses, public safety and government throughout Southern Nevada and Northern Utah.

We have immediate openings at our Las Vegas office for an experienced RF technician/installer who would be responsible for the installation, alignment, maintenance and troubleshooting of two-way radio, distributed antenna systems and microwave equipment. Military communications experience a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities would include:

Experienced in coax cable installation, terminations and testing. Experience installing in-building antennas and passive components per iBwave design or Blueprints. Installation, testing and commission of Public Safety & Cellular Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDAs), battery backup units and alarming modules.

Perform Public Safety and/or Cellular coverage studies, isolation tests, cable & antenna line sweeps, and acceptance certifications for BDA/DAS projects. Document test results and generate associated system reports for system acceptance. Test and maintain commissioned Public Safety BDA's per code requirements.

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain VHF/UHF/800Mhz/900Mhz/Digital two way radio system. (Primarily Motorola Mototrbo Technology)
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain Point-To-Point and Point-To-Multipoint equipment. (Primarily Siklu, Cambium, Radwin and Ceragon)
  • Install, program and maintain IP consoles. (AVTEC, MCC)
  • Prepare, complete and maintain appropriate job tickets, warranty forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner. Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skill Sets, Experience, etc.):
  • Have the ability to read and understand iBwave designs, blueprints other technical diagrams.
  • Experience with operating Anritsu or similar Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Proficient in the use of a communications analyzer, electrical circuit troubleshooting and operation of test equipment.
  • 2+ years related experience with RF Theory, Radio and/or Microwave communications equipment.
  • Knowledge of Motorola Trunked Radio Systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic technology is a plus.
  • Experience with Motorola communication equipment and Public Safety markets is a plus.
  • R56 Installation Practices.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights and on roof tops.

Certifications

  • CET certification and/or FCC license is a plus. Electronics/Applied Electronics background desires.
  • Tower certification is a plus.
  • OSHA 10

McIntosh Communications is looking for an entry level Emergency Vehicle Installer for full time work.

Primary responsibilities would be installing, testing, repairing and removing 12 volt law enforcement vehicle equipment. Equipment could include, but not limited to, light bars, flashers, sirens, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, trasport partitions, K-9 cages and more. Work could include new vehicles, upgrading existing vehicles and servicing prior installs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Install emergency equipment into law enforcement vehicles

Remove and re-install OEM vehicle interior trim Install electrical wiring, connect electrical fittings, drill holes, soldering and perform all physical tasks associated with modifying vehicles for the acceptance of emergency-related equipment Develop wiring routes throughout the vehicle for the most efficient wiring path and enable future replacement and/or troubleshooting Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment as necessary Dis-assemble and reassembly of a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including sedans, SUVs, motorcycles, ATVs.

  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly tools and work area
  • Continuous learning in new products, skills techniques from colleagues and manufacturers
  • Assist with parts, shipping, receiving and inventory as needed
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation
  • Other duties as needed or requiredExperience: Minimum 1 year of automotive wiring or related experience in a fast-paced shop Skill: Must possess the drive and aptitude to work safely with tools and understand auto wiring. Self motivated. Work well under pressure in fast-paced environment. Be able to follow directions; evaluate problems and prioritize tasks. Ability to work well in small teams. Preferred: Experience installing into law enforcement vehicles.

Working Conditions

Work inside and outside vehicles in shop environment Occasional local travel for equipment pickups, deliveries and onsite installations Frequent lifting objects up to 50 lbs. Some overtime or weekend hours may be required to fulfill time sensitive projects

Experienced RF Technician/Installer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain VHF/UHF/900Mhz/Digital two-way radios, microwave, consoles and other RF related equipment
  • Determine the methodology for installing radio systems, the appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications, RF transmit and receive systems, and antennas
  • Troubleshoot/bench test and repair equipment down to the board level
  • Travel to customer locations and fixed site locations to install, repair and troubleshoot equipment
  • Programming and installation of mobile two-way radios into commercial and public safety vehicles
  • Prepare, complete and maintain appropriate job tickets, warranty forms and reports in a accurate and timely manner.

 
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill Sets, Experience, etc.):

  • Understanding basic electronics to the component level
  • Have the ability to read and understand schematics, board layouts, and other technical diagrams
  • Proficient in the use of a communications analyzer, electrical circuit trouble-shooting and operation of test equipment
  • 3-7 years related experience with RF Theory, Radio and/or Microwave communications equipment
  • Knowledge of Motorola Trunked Radio Systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of Fiber Optic technology is a plus
  • Experience with Motorola communication equipment and Public Safety markets is a plus
  • Associates degree or equivalent in electronics is desired.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights and on roof tops.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOS and Windows OS is required.

 
CERTIFICATIONS
